Calibration software for dimensional laboratories

Calipers, micrometers, length standards, coating thickness gauges. CalibraWorks carries 5 instrument types for this work, done to AS 1984, ISO 3611 and Manufacturer’s published specification, and produces a calibration certificate with measurement uncertainty and traceability to a named reference standard. Enquiry, quote, book-in, bench, document, invoice, payment and recall are one system, with the ISO/IEC 17025 records kept as a by-product of the work.

What instruments does it cover?

5 instrument types, supplied with the software, each with a default interval, a calculation sheet and a measurement model checked against the standard it cites:

  • Caliper
  • Micrometer
  • Length Standard
  • Coating Thickness Gauge
  • Welding Gauge

Anything not listed, you add as your own type, kept separate from the catalogue so that what the software has checked and what you have checked are never in the same list.

Which standards is the work done to?

  • AS 1984
  • ISO 3611
  • Manufacturer’s published specification

Named on the field, never invented by the software. Where a standard sets a one-sided limit, the starting plan fills it in; where an accuracy belongs to the instrument in front of the technician, the plan leaves it blank, because a plausible number from nowhere is how a wrong tolerance reaches a certificate.

What happens on the bench?

An instrument of these types opens on the general sheet: limits derived from the instrument's declared accuracy specification, never typed, with a statement of conformity under your declared decision rule. Readings are typed or taken from a connected instrument; the arithmetic runs in a deterministic engine that recomputes at issue and refuses on any mismatch. Starting plans supplied for this field: Caliper — external and internal, Micrometer — across the thimble and Coating thickness gauge. Each is copied into your own plans and completed there.

What does the certificate say?

Each result with its uncertainty in the same unit, the master cited with its own certificate number, the method and version, the decision rule wherever a pass or fail is stated, the signatory, and page n of N. The certificate requirements guide lists every clause.

How often?

Twelve months for workshop use, six where an instrument is in daily production. The recall then runs itself: one email a month per customer listing everything due or overdue.

CalibraWorks is calibration software for dimensional work in Australia: 5 instrument types to AS 1984, ISO 3611 and Manufacturer’s published specification, from enquiry to certificate to invoice to recall, built to ISO/IEC 17025 with the records kept as you work.

Questions about dimensional

What does a dimensional certificate carry?
Each result with its measurement uncertainty in the same unit, the reference standard cited with its own certificate number, the method and version, the decision rule wherever a pass or fail is stated, the authorised signatory, and page n of N. Every item ISO/IEC 17025 §7.8.2 and §7.8.4 require, and a QR code a stranger can verify without an account.
Our instruments are not all in this list. Can we add our own types?
Yes, on every plan. A type you create starts on the general tolerance-band sheet, is listed separately from the supplied catalogue so the register never implies the software vouches for it, and takes your own procedure. The catalogue types are checked against the standard they cite; yours are validated by you, which is what §7.2.2 asks.
How often should these be calibrated or inspected?
Twelve months for workshop use, six where an instrument is in daily production. The interval is yours to set per instrument type and per customer; the software records it and drives the recall from it, and never prints a recommendation on a certificate unless the customer has agreed one (§7.8.4.3).
Does choosing this field restrict what else we can do?
No. A field shapes the defaults a laboratory starts with: its instrument types, its starting plans, and the vocabulary on empty screens. A pressure laboratory can calibrate a torque wrench the same afternoon, and a force laboratory can inspect lifting gear. Mixed deliveries go on one job, and the document follows the item.
